It feels we have been talking about this movie for years, and now, since it's out, it feels like more years have gone by. Snow White was never my favourite Disney movie or princess. The original animated movie is important for what it did for animation and storytelling. Is it dated in of consent and little people? Yes. It is of a different time, and times change. You can adapt the original story and make it more tangible for a modern audience. These live-action remakes that have come out in recent years are empty, sterile, hollow, and boring, and this movie is no exception. It was made to make money, and this is the same. To me, the best Disney remakes are The Jungle Book and Cinderella. No one wants to see these live-action remakes of classics unless you do something different, like the other two movies I mentioned. The other two movies I can mention are Mufasa: The Lion King and certain parts of Aladdin. Those four movies did something different for the most part. Again, you can remark it, but it needs to be different enough and staying true to the classic, and there is room for potential, but they don't do that for the most part. Rachel Zegler was great as Snow White. She was able to capture everything that made her loveable in the first place, and her singing vocals are stunning. Her song 'Waiting for a Wish' is a lovely melody to listen to. The movie had a strong start, and certain musical numbers were well choreographed and with dazzling and mesmerizing production and sets.
Now that's where the complaints end, unfortunately. Gal Gadot has been good in two movies, Fast and Furious 5 and Wonder Woman. After that, she can't act at all. She's quite awful. This movie is no expectation. Her line delivery is difficult to listen to with no emotion or range. Her physical stature is stiff and directionless. The Dwarfs look terrible and are designed and rendered poorly. Why didn't they hire little people? It's a strange decision. I hated the ending. I couldn't believe they made that decision, especially when it's a character trait for them.
Rachel Zegler has said some judgmental and condescending things about the original and has been trying to make up for that. She does a rght to publish her beliefs and politics on social media, but she is not free of consequences, and that's price to free speech, which is something Republicans and conservatives forget about, And to those Republicans and conservatives who hate watching this movie and think they're sticking it to the movie, then you're a moron. You are just giving it money. And constantly whinnying and complaining about Rachel Zegler, Brie Larsen, Barbie, Taraji P. Henson, or anything with women in the lead role. Or something they said makes your jewels shrink, and then it makes you kinda sad and pathetic.
This was my fair and subjective review of Disney's Snow White. If you agree or disagree, please be civil, and if you can't, then leave.
