Moonfall - 5.2./10

Updated: Mar 27, 2022

Jadd J.A.D.D. Jadd This was a rough one that’s for sure, I almost fell asleep watching this. Okay first the positives Patrick Wilson, Halle Berry, John Bradley and Michael Peña work really hard to make the best out of the script that was given to them. The general idea of the moon being taking over by aliens and crashing into earth sounds like a entertaining time at the movies. There’s times where the CGI looks solid which makes for cool imagery. That’s it, that’s all I got. This does the same old stuff that Roland Emmerich does with all his movies. This is your basic alien invasion movie clichés. The one note, up-tight generals. The annoying and irritating subplot with children and family. The action and chase sequences are as formulaic and flat looking as you can get. By the time get it gets to why the aliens are taking over the moon and destroying Earth. It was a massive exposition dump that I was so taken out because I didn’t care about the story, characters because not only I’ve seen this a million times but mostly because they the characters have the personalities of grass. But there was no charm or energy to this. Unlike in Impedance Day, now that’s a stupid movie but it’s a fun stupid movie because of Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum made a weak script work and the action was exciting and filmed superbly. During the movie I was falling a sleep and when it was over I was glad to get out of there.
