I had no exceptions for this and thank God, I didn't. To me, the Vemon movies are guilty pleasures. The Venom movies failed to have the personality of the comics instead Sony did their own thing, which I thought was watchable because Tom Hardy was over the top in those movies, and it worked to his advantage. In this movie, it was interesting as glue and grass. All the acting in the movie was fine, Jared Leto did his best to make this character work. I appreciate that they tried to make this movie more of a monster movie with Morbius lurking in the dark and killing people. I did appreciate how Morbius took his time to explore his new powers and abilities. At times when Morbius goes full vampire, I liked how close they tried to stick to the comics.
Like a lot of trailers, there will always be footage that won't be in the movie. But I think the footage from the trailers could've helped make this movie more consistent and would've filled in some of the massive blanks. Matt Smith has zero charm and presence so when he goes SPOILERS SPOILERS turns out to be evil, it didn't mean anything because it was so obvious. There is a scene where they straight up steal a scene from Batman Begins along with the music. The 'romance' between Morbius and Martine Bancroft played by Adria Arjona comes from nowhere and is unearned. The end credits made me mad. It didn't make any sense but it's something I was afraid of from the beginning. Sony's Marvel movies trying to connect to the MCU. After the end credit scenes, I walked out saying, out loud 'Fuck you, Sony.' After being delayed because of the pandemic and the last time being delayed because Sony didn't want the movie to overcloud the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home. This is just another movie that feels like it's off the assembly line with no energy or effort.
