By far and away the best TV show of the year. James Gunn pulled off another fun, exciting, hilarious, bloody, emotional and tangible world. He takes characters that are difficult to pull off and fleshes them out to fully realized characters. And Just like his previous movies, he takes CGI animal characters and gives them more human traits than the actual humans. The action sequences are well done with great choreography and stunts. Just like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.1&2 and The Suicide Squad, James Gunn’s uses songs he grew up with and not only gives it new life but helps utilize the story. John Cena is incredible, he channels comedy and drama perfectly. The rest of the cast is absolutely perfect and the characters they play will stick with you. Every single member on the team has a character arc and by the end they come out of as different people. Christopher Smith/ Peacemaker is complex and does go through a change to be a better person. He actually learns from his mistakes and tries to forgive himself for the terrible things he’s done, learning from his ignorant and arrogant way of thinking. I applaud this show for tastefully tackling racial and social issues that need to be addressed.
My complaints are very minor. A few jokes and gags that go on a little to long. John Economos played wonderfully by Steve Agee started off a little annoying but after a while he grew on me. Other then that I really love this. By the way the opening credits are going to go down as one of the best openings ever.
