As someone who isn’t a fan or played the games, I thought this movie was Just fine and passable. Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg were fine in their performances, nothing bad or anything great Just fine. I haven’t seen Sophia Ali in anything but she was good here. She held her ground and kicked ass in the action sequences. But by far the real star was Tati Gabrielle. She was charismatic, intriguing, intimidating, and a force of nature to be reckoned with. I Just wish she got more attention because she was by far the best character in the movie. The action sequences were fun with creative set pieces. Ruben Fleischer always delivers on making slick and enjoyable action movies.
This hits on all the clichés and tropes that I don’t like or annoy for expect it's predictable from all the backstabbing, who to trust all that. That would be fine if I haven’t seen a million times. And finally the one I can’t stand the least opening the movie in the middle of a action scene, only to do ‘fifteen years earlier.’ Antonio Banderas is a great actor but I’m so tired of seeing him play, flat and one note villain roles when I know he is so much better then that. I said Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg were fine and that’s true. At the they were really missed cast, both actors are talented actors but it felt like they going though the emotions and by the numbers. Like I said never played the game so the Easter eggs and references that didn’t mean anything to me. It was Just there and I was ‘okay, well that happened.’ I’ve seen fans either like or really don’t like this movie and I’m in the middle, honestly. It wasn’t terrible but a fun way to kill a hour and fifty-six minutes.
