This is the first horror movie the MCU has done and admired for it. Sam Raimi is back and he brings his imaginative and ingenious camera movements and gives the MCU style and flare. If you're like me and you are a Sam Raimi fan there are full of great Easter eggs. This is a horror movie as far as Disney would allow it. There are some gruesome scenes and intense sequences that aren't suitable for young children. Danny Elfman reunites with Sam Raimi for another knockout soundtrack. Danny Elfman makes a fun and engaging score that hits on its thrills and heartwarming notes. The visual effects are wild and surreal when Stephen Strange and America Chavez go through other dimensions. It's completely mind-bending and spectacular. The action sequences are fantastic with smooth editing and creative imagery. Benedict Cumberbatch is good as the title, he has an interesting and intriguing arc. Elizabeth Olsen is great, she is the emotional core of the movie and she nails it. But she will fear and terror into your heart. Xochitl Gomez makes her debut and she was good. Benedict Wong and Rachel McAdams are good both have a lot more urgency and purpose than in the first movie. As a comic book geek who loves superhero movies, series and comic books. This hit me right in my geeky heart and soul. It give me so many surprises that I was so happy to see it on the big screen and done right.
Xochitl Gomez was good and I liked her character, but I felt she was held back. I felt like she didn't have any time to shine except for one moment at the climax. She had so much potential to be a great character but she was more used as a McGuffin. The story is simple and I wanted something more challenging because travelling through to other multiverses could've worked but unfortunately, that didn't happen and it was disappointing. There is a ton of plot inconvenience that raises more questions than answers. There's a great theme of happiness in this movie, especially for Stephen Strange. The script barely scratches the surface of that. I'm not going to spoil anything but those cameos were great to see but it all ends with some stupid decisions.
