My favourite musical of all time comes to life and exceeds my expectations and beyond, and this is only part 1. I've been a theatre kid since I was a child with Disney movies. I have been a teenager, and now I am an adult. This movie has been nominated for 10 Oscars, and all are well deserved. But how did Jon M. Chu not get nominated for best director? What a massive snub and disservice. Without Jon M. Chu, this movie wouldn't be as good as it was or as successful as it was. He breathes life into a world we are familiar with but simultaneously feels fresh and new. He puts so much care and detail into every single thing, along with his remarkable team who created this world. Jon M. Chu is what Peter Jackson was to Middle-Earth to the Oz universe, in which he understands the world and characters, and archives above and beyond creating it. To feel like a visceral and liveable world.

Cynthia Erivo gives such a phenomenal performance, and such perfect casting for Elphaba. She brings warmth and vulnerability to the end when she comes into her and fully embraces who she is, which is inspiring and powerful. Her singing vocals are out of this world and heavenly. Elphaba is a truly special character to me and millions of others. She represents everyone from people with Autism, LGBTQ+, disabilities, people of colour, and women and women of colour.

I knew who Ariana Grande was through her music, but with her acting career not as much, I didn't think she could act. I was so pleasantly surprised and glad that I was wrong. She is incredible, she delivers her comedic and dramatic so fluently. To say her singing vocals are good is an understatement, it's flawless and killed it in her Popular. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande's singing ranges soar. The levels can do with their voices and the ranges they have are nothing short of breathtaking.

I didn't know how much he has as an actor and singer until I watched Jonathan Bailey in Bridgerton. He surprised me so much that I couldn't take my eyes off him as an actor with fantastic versatility and talent, completely and utterly eye candy. Jeff Goldblum is excellent as The Wizard. He draws you in with charm and charisma, but beneath that is a phony con man with sinister agendas. Michelle Yeoh is, of course, fantastic, as always, as Madame Morrible. She's believable that she cares, but when her true intentions show, she becomes a manipulative and dangerous presence. Other supporting cast members, such as Peter Dinklage, Marissa Bode, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, and Bronwyn James, are excellent and very important for the next part.

The Climax is peak cinema. I haven't felt so many emotions since Avengers: Endgame and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3. To break down the sequence will take too much time why it's so perfect, but visually and emotionally it's breathtaking and an achievement of filmmaking and storytelling both through song and visual storytelling and that's due to the brilliant direction of Jon M. Chu.

The only two main flaws that I have with the movie are that it pads out the songs, which can drag out and take up some time. The two songs that do this are 'No One Mourns the Wicked' and 'Dancing Through Life'. Now Broadway and film are very different mediums, and this is an adaptation of the musical, so changing certain things will be difficult for some fans, it didn't for me, I understood it, but some, especially for newcomers and general moviegoers. I love Bowen Yang, and Bronwyn James in the movie, they were fantastic performers and welcomed new additions, but at a certain point, I felt like they served their purpose and kinda lingered.

In conclusion. To say I'm excited about Wicked: For Good is an understatement. This movie brought me up and emotionally wrecked me, and the next part is going to rip my heart out of me.
